Estado, cuadros profesionales y política: el caso de los diplomáticos argentinos
Resumo
The diplomatic corps is distinguished from the rest of the Argentine public administration, since the 60s there are very strict and rigorous admission procedures, based on meritocratic criteria. Once selected, these future «servants of the State» have to go through two-year training process. The aim of this paper is to analyze the place of politics in the mechanisms of selection, professionalization and promotion of career diplomats, understanding how personal and political networks are involved in the construction of different trajectories. This is supported by different documentary sources and a set of interviews with key informants.
